CHDFS thanks the many generous companies—both local and national—who support its mission to help children, families, and individuals strive towards the betterment of their community and themselves. Some examples of how corporations have helped include budgeting and money management workshops, fundraising, supply donations, sponsored events for children, and other generous gifts. At CHDFS we like to develop meaningful relationships with the corporations who support us through donations, partnerships, and linkages. To inspire, spark creativity, aid in development, and to just have fun. Give the gift of laughter and joy to a child or family in need. Play is an essential need that is a part of youth development. Many essential skills are learned during transformative years of our youth and should never be hindered due to means. Bring a smile to a child’s face by providing any gift you can give.
CHDFS, Inc's internship program offers college or graduate students the opportunity to learn a diverse range of skills in communication, administrative, and programming roles expected for work in the non-profit industry. Our interns work both independently and with staff, on projects geared towards the development of our mission. CHDFS enables interns have had the opportunity to shape aspects of their projects which are developed prior to, or at the start of the program. Eagerness to learn, good organization skills, and strong interpersonal skills are essential traits in all our interns. We value all students with all different types of experience, but do have certain criteria for our more intensive projects.
We require a minimum of one letter of a recommendation, a cover letter, and a resume. A portfolio of your work may also be required depending on the type of internship. We will only consider complete applications. All applicants will be contacted regarding decisions.
Internship Opportunities
We encourage students who are interested in working in a non-profit whose focus includes people who have special needs, since a majority of our work deals with children, people with disabilities, and community-based services. To find out what opportunities we have available, please contact Jhon Cortes at 212-695-4564, Ext. 340 or fill out the form below with any questions you may have.
There are many ways in which the world has changed, either big or small, because of passionate and creative people willing to give some of their time for a greater good. At CHDFS, we believe some of that power in giving a bit of time will make an impact in meaningful ways that will support our mission in developing the potential of children, families, and communities.
In 2016, CHDFS will roll-out it's new plan on making the time our volunteers give as meaningful as they can possibly be. We want to provide all the support we can give to our communities, but to do that we need to invest some time in evaluating the most critical needs we think our volunteers can address. If you can't wait that long, you can reach out to Jhon Cortes by calling our office at 212-695-4564, Ext. 340. Let's see what we can create together.
